Kelly is a native Texan, living in the Houston area most of her life, then moving to the Texas Hill Country in 2000. She was an independent real estate agent in the Houston area, and also worked with a land developer for several years. Other skills developed include event planning, marketing, advertising, and entertainment.

When she decided to move from the Houston area, her initial plans were to move outside of the state of Texas. She became a full-time "RV’er" for eight months, traveling around the United States to determine the location of her next home. However, after traveling the U.S., she chose to live in the Texas Hill Country, as nowhere else compared! So, she traded the hustle and bustle of the Houston area for the slower pace and beautiful, rocky Texas hills.

Since her move to the Texas Hill Country, Kelly married a cowboy from the San Angelo area. Kelly has lived in Kerrville and Ingram, and now resides on a small 40-acre ranch in Hunt with her husband, Jimmy. He is a cowboy poet and team roper, and has a background in training horses, ranching, and all phases of construction. Since Jimmy has three horses and Kelly has four dogs, she says they’re at a "stand-off." If he gets another horse, she gets another dog.
